The Guam Shell Club is a non-profit organization for anyone interested in seashells. The club promotes ocean safety, reef preservation, knowledge of marine life, and environmentally sound collecting practices.
Membership Meetings
Visitors
are most welcome! Meetings are from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM on the second
Tuesday of each month at the Seaman's Club in Piti. They
start informally over dinner so that everyone has a chance to get
acquainted with one another. It is a good time to show recently
acquired shells. Aside from knowledgeable club members, a few books are
made available from our club library to assist with identifying shells.
Business is kept brief whenever we have a presentation. The meetings
usually end with a small raffle for shells. So, please feel free to
join us at our next meeting, April 10, 2007.
Malacological Research Grant
The purpose of the Research Grant, offered annually, is to encourage research on mollusks and other ocean related topics on Guam, by supporting projects which contribute to scientific knowledge. Although projects on mollusks are the first priority of this grant, other projects on ocean life and marine ecology will be considered. The grant is available to Guam residents and the Club is now actively soliciting inquiries. Please contact Bob Abela for further details.
